FDP: Economic politicians demands suspension of tuition fees
In Corona pandemic, the tuition fees should be suspended, FDP economy politician Gerald Ullrich demands for the summer semester 2021. He argues that a large part of the fees are made up for the public transport ticket, which would remain unused. In addition, many students currently have fewer income.
Berlin. Due to the corona pandemic, tuition fees for the summer semester 2021 are to be exposed-this is what FDP economic politician Gerald Ullrich demands. The tuition fees made up for several hundred euros after the university and course, said Ullrich of the dpa news agency in Berlin.
costs for unused public transport ticket
"The majority of the semester fees are the ticket for public transport. However, this mostly remains unused because the lecture halls are closed," he said. Lectures would mainly be kept digitally because of the corona pandemic, more self-study is requested than usual.
broken student jobs and financial burden
"In addition, student jobs in pandemic have broken away without replacement and they therefore have no income," said the politician. At the same time, students could generally not be relieved for additional costs in the home office because their income is too low.
BAföG increase as protection against debt trap
Ullrich also advocated increasing the BAföG training funding by ten percent each to "protect students from the next additional cost statement".
