Nordsachsen. The driving license authority of the North Saxony district draws attention to the upcoming key date for the compulsory exchanges of driving license. All driver's license holders who lie between the years 1965 to 1970 should mark the 19th January 2024 thick in the calendar.

The head of the northern Saxon driving license authority, Steffi Karau, appeals to the drivers concerned: "Please contact your responsible license in good time before the exchanging deadline. After the deadline, the old driver's license becomes invalid. And driving without a valid driving license is an administrative offense that can be punished with a fine."

The legal regulation for exchange not only affects the district of North Saxony, but also applies to the EU. By January 19, 2033, all driver's licenses that were issued before January 19, 2013 must be exchanged. The exchange is staggered, depending on the year of birth of the driving license holder (with exhibition until December 31, 1998) or the exhibition year of the driver's license (in the event of exhibition from January 1, 1999).

That costs the new driver's license

If you exchange the driver's license, you should bring the following documents: ID card or passport with current registration confirmation (an alternative confirmation of the personal data by the registration authority), biometric photo and the old driver's license. The new driver's license costs 25.30 euros.

The exchange is part of a comprehensive EU-wide project for the standardization of driver's license. All driver's licenses are redesigned in card form and recorded in a central database. This is intended to guarantee improved security against counterfeiting and abuse.
