The upcoming opening of the Leipzig Eisraum heralds the cold season with a unique experience for the whole family. This diverse event will take place on August 17 to March 2, 2025 on Augustusplatz, one of Leipzig's central places. With an impressive area of 960 square meters, the largest mobile ice rink in Germany offers an ideal ambience for both beginners and experienced skiers.

The official opening will be made on January 17th at 5 p.m. by Dr. Skadi Jennicke, Mayor of Culture of Leipzig. From 10 a.m., the gates are open to visitors who are invited to immerse themselves in a world of winter pleasure. A special highlight is the "Schmankerl Alm", a heated wooden hut that serves as a retreat and serves to warm up after the ice skating.

The ice room is not only a possibility for light sport and fun, but also promotes community and encounter. For school classes there is free ice skating days from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., which enable learners to do sports in a relaxed atmosphere. This initiative is part of the efforts to make ice sports in the region more popular and to actively involve young people into the local community.

The highlights are, for example, the fan meeting of the Icefighers Leipzig on January 22, the children's carnival on January 25th as well as various artistic performances such as wood and ice cream art. Especially February 9, which is used for sporting diplomacy, it should be emphasized when the Leipzig Ice Sports Club invites you to the famous Bambini top game.

A very special attraction is the ecological ice stick, which does not require any electricity. It not only offers an exciting competition for all participants, but also emphasizes the focus on sustainability, which is more and more important in today's events. For the perfect view of the entire spectacle, visitors can sit in the 45 -meter -high ferris wheel and enjoy Leipzig from above.

The physical well -being is also taken care of: visitors can look forward to warming drinks such as mulled wine and punch as well as hearty food. Some specialties are offered, including hot baguettes, sausages and various sweets such as freshly roasted almonds. These culinary highlights complete the winter experience.

The Leipzig Eisraum stands not only for ice skating and culinary delights, but also for a community experience that brings together all age groups. The event is another sign of strengthening winter tourism in the region and promotes the positive perception of Leipzig as a living city in winter.
