Around Martin's Day celebrates many parishes in Leipzig and the region with Martinshörnchen, joy fires and lantern removals. We have put together an overview with events.

Martinsfest in Leipzig on November 11th

Leipzig. Every year on November 11th, Martin's Day will find in honor of the parish of the poor and as a symbol for charity and good deeds. There is a celebration around the day with many customs - for example with Martin devices, Martin's goose meals or joy fires. Numerous lantern removals are planned in Leipzig and the region. We listed some of them.

Martinsfest in Schkeuditz, Taucha and the region on November 11th

Stadtkirche St. Peter and Paul Delitzsch (at the church /market, 04509 Delitzsch), 5 p.m.: Lampion parade through the city to the Catholic parish garden.
Stadtkirche St. Nikolai Eilenburg (Nikolaiplatz, 04838 Eilenburg), 5 p.m.: Clubs of the singing school followed by a lantern parade with the Martinsreiter to the Catholic Church.
Church Podelwitz (Buchenwalder Straße 3, 04519 Rackwitz, OT Podelwitz), 5 p.m.: Martin devotion followed by moving and parts of Martinshörnchen.
Church of Altscherbitz Schkeuditz (Koeppestraße 17, 04435 Schkeuditz), 5 p.m.: Prayer and subsequent move with horse and rider through the area of the hospital and back to church. Martin songs are sung together with the trombone choir and shared Martinshörnchen.
Church of Selben (Große Dorfstraße 17, 04509 Delitzsch), 4 p.m.: Prayer with Martin parade.
St. Moritzkirche Taucha (Kirchstraße 3, 04425 Taucha), 5 p.m.: Ecumenical Martin devotion with lantern parade

Kindergarten St. Martin (Am Kirschberg 37, 04209 Leipzig,), 4 p.m.: Martinsfest with prayer and lantern parade to St. Martinskirche.
Paul-Gerhardt-Kirche Connewitz (Selneckerstraße 5, 04277 Leipzig), 5 p.m.: Ecumenical Martinsfest with prayer, trombone choir and lantern parade.
Propstekirche St. Trinitatis (Nonnenmühlgasse 2, 04107 Leipzig), 5 p.m.: Invoice with a martial parade to Anna-Magdalena-Bach-Schule, Manetstraße 8. Fire by fire with children's punch and bratwurst.
Church Liebertwolkwitz (Kirchstraße 1, 04288 Leipzig), 6 p.m.: Martins parade with trombone choir of the School Liebertwolkwitz.

Martinsfest in Markkleeberg and in the region on November 10th

Kirchgemeindezentrum Markkleeberg (Mittelstraße 3, 04416 Markkleeberg), 5 p.m.: Ecumenical Martin devotion with Martin play and subsequent move.
Martin Luther Church Markkleeberg-West (Kees’scher Park 3, 04416 Markkleeberg), 5 p.m.: Martinsfest followed by moving through Kees’s Park. Arzberger Church (Hauptstraße, 04886 Arzberg), 5 p.m.: Lantern parade to the grandma house (Eastelbian multi-generation house) followed by a barbecue.
Evangelical Church of St. Johannis Glesien (Lindenstraße 1, 04435 Schkeuditz), 5 p.m.: Meeting point at the church to the Martin parade.
Kindergarten Mäuseland Jesewitz (Schulstraße 12, 04838 Jesewitz), 5.30 p.m.: Lantern parade to the fire station with Martin devotion and the traditional parts of the Martinshörnchen.st. Laurentius Church Pegau (Kirchplatz 6, 04523 Pegau): 5 p.m. Ecumenical Martin game followed by a move to the Catholic Church of St. Hedwig. Community Center "An der Rietzschke" Roitzsch (Roitzscher Hauptstraße 14, 04808 Wurzen OT Roitzsch): 6.30 p.m. Martin moves with Lagerfeuer and the Wurzen Spielleuten (Kirchberg 1, 04889 Belgern-Schildau), 5 p.m.: Devotion followed by a lantern parade with Martinshörnchen and punch as well as the trombone choir.st. Nikolai Zschortau (Eilenburger Straße, 04519 Rackwitz), 5 p.m.: Martin parade.
