Geithain: Thanks to Pop Art, Skater-Park becomes a eye-catcher
something lasting with creativity
Geithain. Brilliant colors for the leisure garden on the EULA south of the Geithain city center: Together with the pop art artist Philipp Burghardt alias Art of Demencia, the pupils of the 10th grade of the Paul Guenther School created four graffiti works of art. The gray elements next to the stadium are now really colorful. It all started with the wish of the city of Geithain to start an attack against boredom on the square. With Burghardt, the students developed a project that supports the municipality financially. Ideas were collected, designs outlined. Then we sprayed what the bottles gave. Rainy weather could not brake the students, their enthusiasm could not dampen.
"The students should discover their own creativity and create something lasting," explains Philipp Burghardt. At the children's and youth center in Bad Lausick, where he is at home, he has already worked with adolescents several times. Among other things, Geithainer landmarks can be found on the skater elements. Art teacher Bettina Gerhardt of the Paul Guenther School is enthusiastic about the result. This fresh creativity is well received by young people and adults. "This is a young art monument for many years."
The skater park is part of the transport and leisure garden. Geithain won 100,000 euros for the implementation of the State of Saxony's ideas competition. Among other things, the space serves for traffic education at the Paul Guenther School. There are also outdoor sports devices. The facility is a mosaic stone of the redesign of the site along the Eula, where the old homeland garden was located for decades.
