Personnel planning at music school reorganized

The city of Leipzig will change its strategy of personnel planning at the music school "Johann Sebastian Bach": In the future, fee teachers at the facility should be the exception, the offer of a permanent employment should be the normal case. This emerges from the mayor's service counseling.

offer for tariff employment from 2024

agree to the city council, in the first step from the new school year 2023/24 for all independent employment relationships will be carried out by the music school. For 2024, all fee teachers should then receive the offer to be able to be employed in the public service. The city administration thus exceeds the requirements of the Federal Social Court from its judgment of last year.

In the event of an independent music school teacher on June 28, 2022, the court judged that it was firmly involved in the operating sequence as a fee, it was actually a dependent employment and therefore social security contributions should be paid for them. This judgment does not result in an obligation to act. The city of Leipzig voluntarily takes this path and provides 250,000 euros each for the years 2023 and 2024.

step towards equal treatment

"We appreciate the work of the fee teachers at the music school very much and are pleased that we can now offer you a permanent employment relationship according to tariff. This means security for the life planning of the employees as well as for the school's personnel planning and is a big step in terms of equal treatment in the workplace," says Dr. Skadi Jennicke.

With the change for 2024, 36 full -time positions are to be created in the music school. As a result, the administration also hopes for a more smooth operating sequence for teachers and students.
