Emergency: How do I behave correctly?

In an emergency, quick and appropriate action is important. Here are the steps you should take if you or someone experienced an emergency:

Call the emergency call immediately: In Germany, the emergency number 112. Select this number to receive the help of the police, fire brigade or emergency services. Stay as calm as possible and describe the situation and your exact location on the phone.

First aid: If the situation requires this and you are able to do it, provide first aid. This can be the stopping of bleeding, carrying out resuscitation measures or creating associations. If you are not sufficiently trained, you should still try to help as well as possible until professional help arrives.

Stay at the scene: Do not leave the place if necessary, unless it is too dangerous to stay there. Your presence can be decisive in coordinating help and you can provide important information for the emergency services.
