This is what it looks like in the German neighboring countries

Brussels. Despite all the appeals from Brussels: A common European path cannot be discovered in the Corona crisis. Even a year after the beginning of the pandemic, the governments of the individual states make their own thing when it comes to closures and loosening. What the fight against the third wave of virus in Europe has in common is concern that the vaccination campaigns are slower than the spread of virus mutations.

This is what it looks like in our neighboring countries and in popular holiday destinations for Germans:

Corona situation in France

in France, 14-day incidence is currently higher than in Germany. In the Moselle region in particular, the number of infections has increased in the past few days. Entry into the federal states of Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland is only possible with negative tests.

shops and schools in France are open, restaurants and cultural institutions are closed. There is also an outcome lock from 6 p.m. Above all, the economy exerts great pressure on President Emmanuel Macron not to order any more stricter measures. Macron also seems to want to avoid that. Because presidential elections will take place next year, and the government is very concerned that the right-wing extremists under Marine Le Pen will benefit from the unpopular anti-Korona rules.

Corona situation in Belgium / Netherlands

The Dutch government imposed an outcome lock from 9:00 p.m. to 4.30 a.m. at the end of January to curb the spread of the British virus variant. In contrast, there were initially violent protests that became real street battles. The outcome lock was recently extended until March 15th.

Since the beginning of November there have been almost continuously in Belgium contact restrictions. Masks also have to be worn outdoors, the opening times of the shops are limited. Unnecessary trips abroad are also prohibited. The restrictions have now reduced the number of infections. But for a few days now, the numbers have increased again and more people have to be treated again in the hospital. Therefore, the Belgian government does not want to talk about loosening at the end of this week.

Corona situation in Austria

Although the corona elections rise, Austria relies on regional relaxation. This initially affects the western state of Vorarlberg from March 15. There, innkeepers should also be able to entertain guests indoors. However, a negative coronate test must be submitted. In addition, children and young people should be allowed to do more sport. The Vienna government has not yet announced any details.

From March 27th it should be possible again in the rest of the country to dine at least outdoors. The hotels are to be reopened in April. The Austrian federal government reopened the business three weeks ago.

Corona situation in Italy

The corona situation has recently worsened recently, especially in the south of the country. For this reason, there has been a blocking in the Basilica and Molise regions since the beginning of the week. On the other hand, people on the Mediterranean island of Sardinia can hope for more normality. The island has been a white zone since Monday, in which only a few infections are registered. Public life should be opened gradually. Even in the so -called yellow zones with fewer infections, theater and cinemas should be open to a limited audience from March 27th. Schools in the risk areas of the red zones, on the other hand, are closed again.

Corona situation in Spain

on the Balearic Island of Mallorca it currently looks best. After a mandatory break of seven weeks, the restaurants can receive guests again - but only outdoors. The bars have to close again at 5 p.m. Incidentally, different coronary rules apply regionally. The only restriction that applies across the country is the nightly lock. Otherwise, the governments of the 17 regions of the country can decide which conditions should be imposed. They are usually more accommodating than the authorities in Germany.

Corona situation in Denmark

Since the number of infections has decreased significantly since the end of last year, Denmark changes his blocking determinations. Since the beginning of the week, retail stores with a sales area of less than 5000 square meters have been reopened, unless they are in a shopping center. In larger shops, customers have to book a time window to be able to shop there.

Corona situation in the Czech Republic

The Czech Republic has the highest re-infection rate of all EU countries. For this reason, the blocking was tightened again at the beginning of the month. In the first three weeks, people in which they live can only leave in exceptional cases. This includes trips to work, visits to the doctor or errands at the authorities.

walks and sport are only allowed in our own community, visits to relatives are prohibited. Only shops that offer important articles such as food and medication are still open.

plans to use the government in Prague to use more than 25,000 police officers and up to 5,000 soldiers to monitor the rules. If you disregard the blocking regulations, you have to pay a fine of more than 400 euros.

Corona situation in Poland

The daily number of new infections is currently very high in the eastern neighboring country of Germany with an average of 10,000 cases. For this reason, the government in Warsaw has once again ordered a tough closure since the weekend. However, the ski areas are still open. Cinemas, theater and hotels were allowed to resume operation with a capacity of 50 percent. It is currently unclear whether the increasing figures will lead to a re -tightening of the rules.

Corona situation in Great Britain

The Brexit-Land not only demolished all the bridges to the EU, it also goes his own way in the fight against Corona. Great Britain has undertaken to give people at least the first vaccine dose as soon as possible. At the end of February, 20 million people already lived. This should reduce the number of new infections and the number of hospital admissions and deaths.

On March 8, the children should go back to school. Three weeks later, people in small groups should be able to meet again for outdoor sports. Business and hairdressers are closed until April 12th. After that, pubs and restaurants can also open outdoors. From May 17th, theater and cinemas are to be reopened. The last phase of the gradual cancellation of the restrictions should take place on June 21 if all restrictions on social behavior are to be canceled.

However, the loosening plan is not carved in stone. It should be adapted to the infection process. For example, if the numbers rise again because virus variants spread, there may also be delays in the openings.
