Why is more than one reform necessary?

Berlin. One thing is already certain at the beginning of this super election year: The problem of how Germany can make its pension system future -proof in view of the demographic change, is left to the grand coalition of its successor government. Union and SPD had set up a pension commission. However, this only served them to save themselves over time. They did not want to tackle fundamental reforms that would have alienated one or the other voters.

With the statutory equity pension, the FDP has now presented an exciting model based on the example of Sweden. Instead of continuing to make the entire pension contribution for the levy procedure, part of it could flow into a statutory equity pension, which is managed by a public fund. In particular, it is about 2 percent of the gross income that would not flow into the pensor's pension fund, but into the stock model.

A question of crisis safety

That would be a significant change in the system. Even if, in view of the increasing number of older and less young people, a more capital-oriented system would be obvious, we must not forget one thing: the pay-as-you-go system has proven to be extremely crisis. Proof. It would therefore be wiser not to replace parts of the previous legal pension with the pension pension, but to offer everyone the opportunity to invest in such a public service fund in order to save an additional pension.

In reality there is not a single reform step that would make the pension to "grandchildren", as the FDP likes to say. When people get older, they have to work longer for their retirement. And the individual has to spend more from his income for old -age provision - but this is divided between legal and private provision.
