Dresden artist designed installation for Campus Dösner Weg

The sculpture is to be installed under the wooden ceiling and consists of two stylized words - knowledge and error (error) - which are distorted and shown with shadow throwing. The figure is supplemented by four words curved from round steel words north, east, south and west, which are grouped around a pillar in the multi -purpose room. With her work under the title "Compass", Patricia Westerholz is aimed at the up to 1,886 pupils who will learn in the future school in the future - and at the same time also takes a look at the teachers: During a school life, the horizon is developing and oscillates between a defined correctly and wrong.

After a city council decision from 2019, a budget for all larger municipal building measures has to be planned for art since 2021. This set a milestone on the way to a modern city that is committed to its responsibility towards art in public space and construction. jury decision after artistic competition

For the new school building in the center of Southeast, a competition was awarded for this, to which seven artists and artists' collectives were asked to participate in advance. We were looking for a work of art that designs the important entrance area identity-creating and with a connecting character, so that this space invites you to a common (art) experience. All seven artists had submitted a contribution.

The competitive jury belonged to representatives of various urban offices, employees of the architecture firm Wörner.traxler.richter, who has planned the school, as well as visual artists and an art historian. The reason for the draft states: "The generous form of design is an inviting gesture and arouses the curiosity with writing, word and type of knowledge transfer for student body, parents and teachers. The jury welcomes this up -to -date allusion and is also very convinced of the technical implementation."

School construction project Campus Dösner Weg

From September the shell for the community school should begin. A campus with a community school and two sports halls are being built on the site of Dösner Weg 39-41 until the school year 2026/27. The intention of the community school is to enable longer learning together: social inequality through an early division into school forms is avoided in this way that a new learning and funding culture should establish itself on the campus. Various educational paths and degrees are combined under one roof. The art object should also be completed with the opening of the school. 100,000 euros are planned for the implementation of the installation.
