Margaretenstrasse is being redesigned from renovation funds - City of Leipzig

Margaretenstrasse is located in the "Neuschönefeld" renovation area. In recent years, considerable means have been used to upgrade the area. According to the provisions of the Building Code, the property owners must therefore pay compensation amounts for the increase in land value through renovation. The redesign of the 111 meter long residential street can now be financed from the amounts already collected. The work should begin in May 2022 and be completed by the end of next year.

It is planned, for example, that the 4.75 meter wide road will receive a new asphalt covering, with two -meter -wide parking areas made of concrete plaster on both sides. Tempo 30 applies on Margaretenstrasse, which is why bicycle traffic will not be managed separately on the lane in the future.

The sidewalks are at least 2.50 meters wide and are attached with small -format concrete slabs, which are framed in strips made of mosaic plaster. The curb is lowered on property incoming and walkway transitions. It is also planned to renew the street lighting and plant six trees in the southern park. In parallel to the work, the Leipzig waterworks will renovate the existing mixed water pipe and lay the new drinking water line.

The redesign of the street space is intended to significantly improve traffic safety and quality of stay on Margaretenstrasse. If the damaged road is renewed, the noise emissions are also reduced.
