New mobile radio station in Steigra closes radio hole on the railway line from Erfurt to Leipzig - nationwide expansion along the railways
A new mobile radio station in Steigra closes a radio hole along the railway line from Erfurt to Leipzig/Halle. Deutsche Bahn and Vodafone have started cooperation to improve mobile phone supply along highly frequented train routes. In Steigra, a new mobile phone location with LTE-capable antennas has now been put into operation to improve the Internet supply for travelers along a 17 km route.
The partnership between Vodafone and Deutsche Bahn aims to create a complete LTE mobile network along the railway lines in Germany by 2025. This means that the passengers of the DB, who use Vodafone's network, will benefit from high bandwidths and reliable data transmission. In addition, Vodafone is planning to activate its 5G+network large-scale on German ICE routes by 2025 to enable low response times and quick connections.
Vodafone Germany is one of the leading communication groups in the country and works on the provision of the Internet, mobile communications, landline and television from a single source. With more than 30 million mobile phone customers and numerous digital solutions, Vodafone is driving the infrastructure expansion in Germany. The company is aiming to become CO2-neutral and emission-free by 2040, and already covers 100 percent of renewable energies.
In the Leipzig/Halle region, the expansion of mobile phone supply along the railway lines will have positive effects by enabling train travelers to improve internet connection and better communication on the go. This is an important step towards an efficient and reliable mobility network in the region.
