Newly designed Parkallee skate park in Leipzig -Grünau - City of Leipzig opened
"With the new skate park in Grünau, Leipzig has a special attraction that has the potential to develop international radiance and importance," said Heiko Rosenthal, Mayor for Environment and Sport. At the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo, skateboarding celebrated its premiere as an Olympic sport. Appropriate competition standards were developed for this purpose, which were taken into account when redesigning the skate park. "At the same time, the entire area offers attractive sports and movement options for all Leipziger on around 4,500 square meters and invites you to relax as a green landscape park."
skate elements for all ages
After 15 years of operation, the old skate park was urgently needed. The new, around 2,500 square meter skate facility offers many new offers for all age groups and meets the current requirements of the scooter, inline skate, skateboard and BMX scene. It is clearly divided into the areas of Street, Flow and Bowl. There are different levels of difficulty for skate elements such as transitions such as transitions, street area, bench area, San Francisco trail, bowl, tables and obstacles. The skate system is designed to be barrier -free so that wheelchair users can use parts of the facility and all road areas barrier -free.
floodlights
A floodlight system (100 lux) ensures optimal lighting conditions and film maturity. The system regulates itself to 30 percent performance to save electricity. If necessary, users can operate the system with full performance for 30 minutes via the button on the main mast.
cost
The total costs for planning and construction by the Office for City Green and Water amount to 1.7 million euros. 90 percent of them were financed through the funding program of the investment pact "Social Integration in the Neighborhood". Grünau is the focus of integrated district development according to Insek 2030.
The skate park is part of a package of measures to upgrade the neighborhood, which is coordinated by the Office for Housing and Urban Renewal. The self -contribution of 10 percent was provided by the Office for Sport. They come from the fund, which the city council has set in the city budget for "promoting sports and movement in public space" by decision of the "Sports Program 2024".
streetball, table tennis, calisthenics and a park to relax
In addition to the skate system, further cross -generational leisure portions for streetball, table tennis and calisthenics as well as a park -like area for resting, lingering and observing were created. 21 trees, including torn-oic, pointed maple, silverlinde, pine, ornamental cherry, amber, were-partly as a replacement for necessary tree felling. Additional replacement plantings are carried out on the “Climbing Platz” playground. 19 trees could be preserved on the area. Around 2,000 ground cover and shrubs complete the new green area. The existing paths and green areas were taken up. In addition, rainwater is infiltrated on site. Special trenches were built for this. The materials from the demolition of the previous work were reused for modeling in the new concrete landscape. Existing natural stone blocks and table tennis panels were also renovated and reorganized. This enabled the city to make and build the outdoor facilities sustainably.
In advance there were four workshops to determine the needs of the roll sports scene. Together with the specialist planners and Urban Souls e. V. was created a draft that was presented in May 2019.
