New Saxon Corona Protection Ordinance from September 23, 2021: Introduction of the 2G option-City of Leipzig City
optional 2G model
The following facilities, events and other offers can only cancel all distance and capacity restrictions as well as mask obligation if only vaccinated or recovered visitors are present:
- indoor catering
- indoor events and celebrations
- indoor sports
- indoor pools and saunas
- indoor culture and leisure facilities
- Large events with a maximum of 5,000 participants at the same time
- Tourist train and bus trips
- discos, bars, indoor clubs
- Indoor art, music and dance schools
Exceptions apply to visitors who have not yet reached the age of 16: they can also participate without a vaccine or convalescence detection. Unsiminated or recovered employees must have a negative test test for the duration of the event or the offer and carry medical mouth-nose protection.
If the 2G option is to be used, this must be reported three working days in advance to the responsible health department. The possibility of only vaccinated and convalescent is eliminated when the overload level is reached. Then 2G is mandatory - mask obligation and capacity restrictions must be observed.
All body-friendly services, canteens and canteens as well as baths and saunas or fitness studios, provided that they serve medical or therapeutic purposes, are generally excluded from the option of the optional 2G model.

- The incidence of 7-day hospital stays exceeds 7.00 and
- 650 beds on the normal stations or 180 beds on the intensive care units of the Saxon clinics are covered with Covid 19 patients.
The overload level is reached on the second day if before on five consecutive days:
- The incidence of 7-day hospital stays exceeds 12.00 and
- 1,300 beds on the normal stations or 420 beds on the intensive care units are covered with COVID 19 patients.
regulations for the Bundestag election
For the Bundestag elections, exceptions to the Corona regulations apply. The 3G regulation does not apply to polling stations and contacts are not recorded. However, all people who are on the premises must have medical oral and nose protection.
Exceptions for students in the event of an examination obligation
As in the Corona protection regulation that has been applicable so far, students are still exempt from examination obligations according to the 3G regulation, since they are already under and regularly subject compulsory examinations according to the Corona School Ordinance.
