Payment card for asylum seekers: milestone started in MV!

In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, a significant step will be taken tomorrow in the support of asylum seekers: The first issue of the payment card for service recipients according to the Asylum Competitive Performance Act (AsylbLG) is pending. Eight new additions in Stern Buchholz and five in Nostorf-Horst are the first of a total of 3,000 cards provided by the Dutch company "Yoursafe". Interior Minister Christian Pegel describes the introduction of the card as a "milestone" for improved administrative processes and more efficiency in the initial reception facility.

February is planned as a test phase to gradually equip all beneficiaries with the new payment card. The aim is to reach all recipients by the end of the month - weekly expenses are planned for this. This measure follows the nationwide criteria and was originally decided at the Prime Ministers' Conference on November 6, 2023. The countries have undertaken to set uniform minimum standards for the introduction by January 31, 2024.
