Shooting festival in Eutin: tradition, fun and new kings await you!

It will soon be festive in Eutin! The big shooting festival of the Eutiner Schützenguild von 1668 e.V. will take place from July 12th to 14th, 2025. As [shz.de](https://www.shz.de/advertorials/schuetzenfest-in-eutin-12-14-juli-2025-80768/eutin-ostholstein/schuetzenfest-eutin-tage-tradition-gemeinschaft- Feierfreude-vogelberg-festumzug-koenigswuerde-juli-245417) reports, the preparations are already in full swing. The Eutin Riflemen's Guild, which is celebrating its 350th anniversary this year, is continuing a long tradition.

The shooting festival is not only an event for the members of the guild, but also invites everyone interested to take part in the various activities and celebrations. Festive ceremonies, shooting competitions and social gatherings are offered, among other things. On Saturday, July 12th, the fun starts with the traditional craft shooting on the Vogelberg, at the same time as the children's bird shooting and citizen king shooting.

Program highlights of the shooting festival

Sunday, July 13th, offers a powerful wake-up call by the guild at 6 a.m. and endless exciting highlights, including the big parade at 2:30 p.m. through downtown Eutin. The route leads through well-known places such as Schlossstrasse, Rosengarten and Plöner Strasse before heading to Vogelberg on Gut Dechantshorst. The royal shooting, a highlight of the festive season, will also not be missed, during which the new majesty will be determined.

On Monday, July 14th, there will be a festive guild table in the Schützenhaus at 12 p.m. Guests of honor are expected here, and the shooting competitions also continue, with the shooting for the minor and major royal titles. The highlight is the proclamation of the new majesty under the shimmering torchlight, which will certainly provide many unforgettable moments.

Traditions and conviviality

The Eutin Riflemen's Guild not only maintains old customs, but also offers a children's festival with numerous prizes for the little ones, such as trophies and sashes. Contact with the community is central, and Mayor Carsten Behnk will even be present at the honorary shot for the first time, as der-reporter.de reports. The parades are complemented by cheerful music and a festive setting, making the event a huge community experience.

The roots of the shooting festivals in Germany go back to the Middle Ages, where they served as military exercises for vigilante groups and over time transformed into social communities. As muenchner-bierbandl.de explains, shooting festivals are an integral part of German festival culture and attract millions of visitors every year. Different traditions characterize the regional festivals, where the Eutin Guild is not left behind with its festive atmosphere and colorful parades.

The full program for the shooting festival is available on the guild's website www.eutiner-schuetzengilde.de to find. So mark the days and be there when it’s time to celebrate and experience community in Eutin – a celebration for all generations!
