Miami, USA - "The Dream Ship" on ZDF is preparing for exciting innovations: In 2025, the cult series is heading for a new goal - Miami. In addition, the ZDF reveals that filming for two new episodes is already underway. One episode leads the audience to Africa, the other to Iceland. This last destination is particularly remarkable because it is a premiere in the 44-year history of the series. These are RuHR24 Show format.

The filming for "The Dream Ship - Africa: Madikwe" and "The Dream Ship - Island" will continue until the end of June 2025. The MS Amadea serves as a backdrop for the impressive ship scenes. The line-up for the Africa episode has already been determined: Götz Schubert, Valentina Pahde and Lutz van der Horst will appear as guest stars, while the occupation for the Iceland episode is still secret. Florian Silbereisen, Barbara Wussow, Daniel Morgenroth and Collien Ulmen-Fernandes comprises the stem line-up.

New course for the ZDF

The new episodes of "Das Draumschiff" and the changes in the program fall into a time when ZDF plans larger structural reforms. From 2025, five programs, including ZDF, ZDFneo, ZDFinfo, 3sat and Kika, are to be canceled without replacement. This is announced by the tz from November 18, 2025 HD quality can be broadcast. Spectators who still receive these transmitters in SD quality will have no reception from this date.

ZDF director Dr. Norbert Himmler has described the renovation as the largest reform process in the company for 25 years. The decision to reject SD quality is justified by the fact that hardly any spectators use this quality. At the same time, the ZDF would like to bundle the resources with the new measures and implement the strategy process "a ZDF for everyone".

The future of the "dream ship"

With these developments, Florian Silbereisen, the main actor and moderator, will also be missing in ARD shows for several months. The next episode of "The Dream Ship" is broadcast on Easter Monday. However, the ZDF has not yet announced a broadcast date for the new episodes.
