Car accident in Kleiner Kiel: drunk driver without a license!
On Monday morning, July 14, 2025, a traffic accident in Kiel caused a stir. A VW Jetta, driven by a 20-year-old woman, landed in the Kleiner Kiel waters around 2 a.m. Loud NDR The driver lost control of the vehicle when she turned right off Rathausstrasse and drove into the water. This mishap happened after a wet, happy night because the young woman had around 1.3 per mille of alcohol in her blood and was also driving without a driver's license.
Together with her 23-year-old passenger, the driver was able to free herself from the sinking car. Both then reported the incident to the police. While the driver suffered some abrasions, the passenger was uninjured. Both were then taken to hospital for examination, but according to the police there were no serious health problems.
Alcohol on the road
The incident once again sheds light on a serious problem: alcohol-related traffic accidents. Current statistics from the Federal Statistical Office show that the number of alcohol-related accidents in Germany has been considerable over the past few decades. Between 1995 and 2024, thousands of such cases were recorded by the police. In the last few years alone, the number has remained alarmingly high, according to a publication by Statista confirmed.
The investigation has already begun in the case of the 20-year-old driver. Police are now dealing with several charges, including endangering road traffic and driving under the influence of alcohol and without a license, according to Press portal reported. The fire department ensured that the vehicle was secured against slipping and was completely lifted out of the water in the morning.
These events should make us all think. Driving in traffic requires responsibility and a clear head. If a happy adventure leads to such an incident, it is not only dangerous for those affected, but also for other road users. Acting responsibly should be an absolute priority for everyone.
