Football stars in action: charity game for young Flynn in Ahrensbök!

An important charity event is scheduled for October 31st in Ahrensbök. VfR Neumünster will play against district league team TSV Pansdorf II in a game. Kick-off is at 1 p.m., followed by an exciting duel in which a selection of ex-professionals will compete against an all-star team from Ahrensbök. The entire spectacle is themed “Together for Flynn,” as proceeds from the event will benefit the family of 13-year-old MTV youth soccer player Flynn, who is suffering from fourth-degree brain cancer. Almost 55,000 euros have already been raised through a crowdfunding campaign, which shows how great the support from the region is. The SHZ reports that participation in the fundraising campaign includes several thousand people, which impressively underlines the solidarity and commitment of the community.

The event is organized by Shorty Bohnsack, who has a personal connection to Flynn's family. The event also offers a varied supporting program that includes a bouncy castle, soccer darts, a raffle and the auction of jerseys. VfR Neumünster has made two signed jerseys from Hauke Wahl and Jonas Krumrey available for auction, among others. Watching over all of this is stadium announcer Carsten Schoppenhauer, who will guide visitors through the events. A large tent will protect everyone in attendance from the rain while the games take place on natural grass. The stands and games will certainly attract several hundred spectators, although VfR coach Danny Cornelius is optimistic and even expects higher visitor numbers.

An array of stars

The selection team with ex-professionals is impressive. The participants include names like Ivan Klasnic, Nelson Valdez, Matthias Scherz, Michél Dinzey, Thomas Meggle, Morike Sako and André Trulsen. These venerable players naturally also attract the broad masses of football fans and contribute to the attractiveness of the event. The campaign is also supported by FC Bayern Munich, which promises additional attention. There is great anticipation for the event and hopes of collecting further donations are high.

The game initiative is part of the efforts of the organization Football Fans Against Cancer e.V., which is dedicated to supporting families with children with cancer. The initiative was founded by Christian Schliephorst in 2021 based on personal experiences. This community has quickly developed into a registered club that uses football as a platform to provide concrete help to affected families.

The charity day in Ahrensbök promises not only exciting football games, but also an important opportunity to improve the life of a young person. Every viewer counts and every donation helps. Come and support Flynn and his family!
