Something is happening in Großhansdorf! The fight for the mayor's office is getting more exciting because Martin Röglin has thrown himself into the race as a new candidate. The independent 54-year-old has not only collected the necessary signatures for his candidacy over 165, but will now run against the stronger Andreas Bitzer, who is supported by the major parties CDU, SPD and Greens. The incumbent mayor Janhinnerk Voß will not stand for election, so voters will vote onSeptember 28, 2025have to elect a new leadership. Martin Röglin has been based in Großhansdorf for over 20 years. Growing up in Ahrensburg, he not only has a daughter who went to school here, but also has professional experience - after an apprenticeship as a car mechanic and studying vehicle construction, he has been working at TÜV for 25 years. “Although I don’t have any direct administrative experience, I do know how an agency works,” he adds. He sees his strengths in his level-headed, calm nature, which, together with family and commitment, plays a high role in his life.

What are the big issues that Röglin would like to raise? He focuses on proximity to citizens, better conditions in kindergartens and schools as well as active environmental protection. He also cares about senior citizens – “we have to make it easier for them to participate in community life,” says Röglin. He has also announced growth for the candidate presentation at the Rosenhof retirement home, which is planned for August.

The mayoral election in Großhansdorf is part of the broader municipal elections in Germany, in which citizens have the opportunity to directly elect their representatives in the municipalities. According to Federal Agency for Civic Education, the Basic Law regulates local elections and stipulates that they must be general, direct, free, equal and secret. In Schleswig-Holstein, where Großhansdorf is located, there is a differentiated electoral system that includes both multi-person and single-person constituencies.

The election is organized by the municipal election committee, which encourages citizens to submit nominations. In addition to the two candidates already mentioned, there is also a job advertisement for the position of full-time mayor (m/f/d), which once again illustrates the importance of this office.

With a solid election campaign and clear goals, Martin Röglin could really shake things up.
