A serious accident occurred on Monday evening, April 8, 2025, on the A4 towards Dresden. The incident happened around 10:15 p.m. in the construction site area at the Wilsdruff exit. A 33-year-old Audi driver from Austria lost control of his vehicle, which led to a collision with the left guardrail. Afterwards, the Audi A6 not only crashed into an Opel Insignia, but also broke through a wild fence and finally ended against a tree in an adjacent forest area. The driver of the Audi was seriously injured and had to take the hospital immediately, while the 61-year-old driver of the Opel was not injured. The Audi driver's vehicle was classified as total damage and was no longer ready to drive.

The emergency forces, including voluntary fire departments from Wilsdruff, Klipphausen and Nossen, were quickly deployed at the scene of the accident. The A4 had to be fully blocked for the rescue and recovery measures from 10:15 p.m., which led to a considerable backlog. This full closure lasted until midnight. The police have already investigated the exact cause of the accident.
