Federal Congress of Young Alternatives in Apolda: Protests and police operation

On February 1, 2025, the Federal Congress of Young alternatives took place in the Apolda town hall with around 250 participants, accompanied by massive protests. A wide alliance organized several approved meetings and an elevator that attracted up to 1,500 people. In order to ensure the security at the events and protect the fundamental rights of all participants, the State Police Inspection Jena started moving an extensive police force. The measures took place until the end of the congress at 1:40 p.m., when the protest on Darrplatz was completed at 2:45 p.m.

Despite the numerous protesters, the majority of the counter -demonstrations were disorders. However, the police registered a total of 18 crimes, including violations of the meeting law and property damage. In order to support the emergency services, additional staff from other parts of Thuringia were requested. Shortly after the events, the traffic restrictions were also lifted.
