Construction work on the A23: Nights full of traffic jams between Pinneberg and Heide

From September 3, 2024, there will be considerable traffic problems on the A23 towards Heide during the nights. Between the Tornesch and Pinneberg-Mitte junctions in the Pinneberg district, the lanes are fully blocked from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. These closures are part of a comprehensive building initiative initiated by Autobahn GmbH to improve traffic safety and infrastructure.

The first construction phase primarily includes the construction of a protective device that has top priority during this night work. The responsible authorities have already set up diversions via the Pinneberg-Mitte junction in order to at least partially maintain traffic during the construction work. Drivers have to adjust to longer travel times and plan their routes accordingly.

construction work and closures in detail

From September 5 to the beginning of October, the traffic towards Heide will only continue in a lane. This means that the construction vehicles and workers are confronted with a high volume of traffic every day. In the opposite direction, i.e. from Heide to Pinneberg, the highway remains two -lane, which offers a certain relief for the return trip to Pinneberg.

Another important point: The Pinneberg-Nord junction remains completely closed towards Heide during the entire construction period. As it looks, access to Harderslebener Straße will also not be possible in the period from 18 to September 27th. Therefore, residents and commuters in the area should inform themselves about alternative routes in good time.

The A23 is an important traffic axis in Schleswig-Holstein, which plays an important role not only for regional traffic, but also for national connections. Therefore, the ensure that this highway remains safe even during the construction work. Autobahn GmbH has so far not been able to provide any precise information on the duration of the entire construction work, but it is clear that this process will last at least until the beginning of October.

Current information about traffic jams, construction sites and traffic conditions is crucial for the users of the highway. The latest developments are always pointed out on the radio and via mobile apps, especially for commuters who regularly depend on this route. The possibility of pursuing the flow of traffic and the diversion in real time helps the drivers to choose better planned routes and minimize the inconvenience.

These upcoming changes and construction work on the A23 are another example of the ongoing efforts of the traffic authorities in Germany to modernize the infrastructure and to meet the increasing requirements of traffic. The residents in Pinneberg and the commuters who work with these streets every day have to be prepared to live with traffic disorders and construction work. But ultimately this could be a step in the right direction to enable a more smooth and safer drive on the highways.
