In Steinburg: laborlessness increases to 6.1 percent in August
The current figures on unemployment in the Steinburg and Dithmarschen district show a clear increase, which for many observers is certainly a signal for more precise analysis. From August to September, unemployment rose by 0.3 percentage points, which increases the rate to 6.1 percent. In comparison, the average in Schleswig-Holstein is 5.9 percent. According to experts, this development may seem surprising for some.
Another important aspect is the change in the open spots. In August, the companies report 78 less reported open spots compared to July. This development is particularly noteworthy because it indicates a reduced need on the job market. Interestingly, the Heide Employment Agency reports that the job offer in the Steinburg district has a slight increase compared to a year ago. Martin Lieneke, managing director of the agency, explains that all age groups are affected by the increase in unemployment. This could affect both young job seekers and older workers.
fluctuations due to the summer time
The summer months traditionally bring a certain doldrum on the job market, which is now also reflected in the current numbers. A spokesman for the North Regional Directorate in Kiel emphasizes that the increase in unemployment in August is not surprising in August, since many employees are absent during their vacation and fewer jobs are available due to the season. During this time, the demand for qualified workers could experience a decline in many industries, which further influences the numbers.
A worrying trend is also evident in the training positions. By August, around 110 training positions were reported less than in the previous year. This declining tendency could have an impact on the regional labor market in the long term, since many positions remain vacant despite the decline. The employment agency offers support to close this gap and encourages companies to find different ways to fill their training positions.
The current developments in the Steinburg and Dithmarschen district are therefore characterized by seasonal influences and a significant decline in training positions. These trends are crucial for all stakeholders who rely on a healthy and dynamic labor market, and demand to rethink the strategy to combat unemployment and promote training positions.
