Dresden fights for Elbamare: City administration strives for better rental conditions!
Dresden, Deutschland - The city of Dresden is fighting for the endangered leisure pool Elbamare in Gorbitz! Sports Mayor Jan Donhauser (CDU) announced in the city council that the city administration is committed to maintaining the bath. But negotiations with the owner Johannes Tebroke are tense: the rental agreement ends on March 14, 2025, and the city currently pays 2.1 million euros annually. Donhauser urges significantly better conditions with a possible contract extension. A purchase option for the Elbamare is also considered, while two market value reports are examined.
The urgent concern remains: what happens if no agreement is reached until the deadline? The left-wing parliamentary group leader André Schollbach warns that the operation of the bath could be at risk if the city council decisions are delayed. The current draft budget also does not provide for the continued operation of the Elbamare, and other projects, such as the replacement building for the Klotzscher swimming pool, have already been deleted due to limited financial resources. The future of the Elbamare remains uncertain, while the city is doing everything possible to find a solution before the lights may end on March 15, 2025. You can find out more about this here .
