Dresdner railway reactivation: faster to BER until the end of 2025!

The long -awaited reactivation of the Dresden railway in the south of Berlin is about to graduate! After over 20 years full of planning and conflicts, it was announced that the project should be completed at the end of 2025. This was confirmed in an interview with Alexander Kaczmarek, the German Bahn Group Performance. The new connection is intended to offer travelers faster and direct ways to BER Airport as well as to Dresden, Prague and Vienna. Kaczmarek expressed himself optimistically: "In December 2025 the sparkling wine cork will pop!"

With two new tracks that run parallel to the existing S-Bahn route, the travel time to the airport is introduced from 20 minutes from the main train station and a 15-minute cycle. This modernization should also relieve the Anhalter Bahn - an important step for the stability of rail traffic. However, the “Lichtenrade Dresdner Bahn” citizens' initiative remains skeptical and sees the construction work dangers to the quality of life of the residents. The connection, which is historically considered an important traffic artery, was severely affected after the Second World War and the Wall construction.
