Revolution in Dresden: Robot conducts symphonists live in the Festspielhaus!
The Dresden symphonists wrote history by being guided by a robot conductor, an impressive three -armed machine master for the first time. At the premiere of the "Robot. Sinfonie" in the Festival House of Hellerau, the audience experienced an extraordinary concert in which the robot could specify dynamic tempos for various orchestral groups. With special bright conductor bars, the technology presented itself in full splendor and resulted in enthusiastic reactions from the audience.
The project was launched in cooperation with the Technical University of Dresden and the Ceti Excellence Cluster. After more than 20 years of finding ideas and numerous adjustments, the innovative machine wise has now gained the ability to conduct an orchestra through complex works - a precision that is hardly achievable! Symphonic director Markus Rindt, however, emphasizes that people continue to keep creative control: "People will always be better than the robot". The dream of maybe one day creating compositions especially for robots remains a hopeful goal in this exciting symbiosis of man and machine.
