Security alarm in Central Germany: Bridge tested to Dresden's collapse!
After the dramatic partial fall of the Carol Bridge in Dresden in September, the district office in Pirna initiated a preventive review of a similar bridge in the Rabenauer Grund. This bridge, which is made of the same clamping concrete material, is particularly closely examined. According to the district office, the condition of the bridge over the Weißeritz is at an assessment of 2.5, which is considered "sufficient", but the concerns about their security are great.
worrying remains that the concrete bridge at the Rabenau mill can only be driven on and is still regularly checked. Interestingly, the collapsed carol bridge even received a worse grade of 3.0 in the last examination in 2023 - an alarming reference to possible risks. The authorities assure that all the necessary steps are taken to keep an eye on the safety of the bridges after the shock of the tragic incident in Dresden is still fresh. Source: www.tagesschau.de .
