Modernization of the school IT: Krefeld invests millions in digital education
The digital transformation in schools takes a big leap forward in Krefeld, thanks to the generous promotion of the Düsseldorf district government. Over 1.3 million euros were approved to strengthen the IT administration in schools and create a contemporary digital infrastructure.
This grant is part of the comprehensive school (2019-2024), which provides for a total of 30 million euros for the promotion of the IT administration in schools in the Düsseldorf government district. Krefeld has already received over 12 million euros from this fund and uses the funds for the expansion of school WLAN, the digital networking of schools and the procurement of modern presentation technology.
In addition to the financial support for the infrastructure, the city of Krefeld has also purchased more than 10,000 mobile devices for pupils and teachers. These are financed by various funding programs and own funds. The current donation of 1.3 million euros is intended to ensure the efficient management of these digital devices. These include rollout planning, device management and direct support for the end devices.
President Thomas Schürmann underlined the importance of these measures by emphasizing: "The promotion of IT administration is a crucial step to ensure modern and functional digital infrastructure in our schools. We create the basis for contemporary learning and teaching in Krefeld."
Investments in IT administration lead to a quick building and expansion of digital teaching-learning infrastructures in the Krefeld schools. The school authorities are strengthened through professional IT administration and can offer the pupils and teachers a contemporary learning environment.
