A Santa Claus on three wheels: Lindau harbor Christmas inspires!
It's very Christmas in Lindau and the harbor Christmas attracts hundreds of visitors. Santa Claus standing in front of the harbor Christmas in a charming three-wheeled rickshaw is a very special highlight. Erhard Feitzinger, who has been working as Santa Claus for 18 years, has made it his mission to find out the children's wishes and give them a festive atmosphere. He collects the wishes before December 24th so that he can write them down in good time.
His special tours, which last just 8 to 10 minutes during the Christmas season, take him through the festively decorated old town and past the Christmas tree on Bismarckplatz. On these routes he is not allowed to drive in pedestrian zones or at the harbor itself, but on approved routes he surprises his passengers with unique views and the contemplative atmosphere of the Christmas season. The inspiration for his rickshaw tours came to him during a trip to Berlin and Dresden.
Special features of the harbor Christmas
The Lindau Harbor Christmas takes place in a dreamlike setting, surrounded by snow-capped mountains and Lake Constance. The entire event, which is open from November 27th to December 21st, 2025, offers a diverse program: from lovingly decorated wooden stalls to Christmas music and night watchman tours. All of this creates a contemplative scent of fir trees and a wonderful Christmas atmosphere on the island. The opening times are from Thursday to Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and the restaurants and shops on the island also invite you to stroll and feast.
The offering also includes a variety of stands with fair trade goods and regional products. Daily performances by artists on the stage at the harbor round off the program. There are also festive events such as the nativity scene in St. Stephen's Church and organ music on Advent Saturdays. Anyone who would like to visit the Lindau Harbor Christmas can do so easily by public transport, as the train station is in close proximity to the Christmas market.
Christmas tours and Advent boat tours
For those who want to experience the ambience from the water, Advent boat tours are on the program. These tours, which run Friday to Sunday, are not only a relaxing way to enjoy the Christmas lights, but also include culinary treats such as tea, coffee and cake. On Sunday, guests can look forward to an Advent breakfast with sausage, pretzels and beer. In addition, the Thurbo regional train will run daily to Lindau from December 15th and Vorarlberg Lines will offer Christmas ferries between Lindau and Bregenz.
Erhard Feitzinger, who was not born in Lindau, won his way into the hearts of visitors with his rickshaw and his warm manner. He gave up his job as an industrial engineer to devote himself entirely to this special Christmas mission. The atmosphere in Lindau at Christmas time, the beauty of the harbor and the festive atmosphere in the air make his mission unforgettable. We can look forward to the coming weeks and the many bright children's eyes he will see on his trips.
