The police reacted at lightning speed and moved up with several patrol cars. When the officials arrived, they discovered the alleged perpetrator, a 42-year-old Gelsenkirchener who had entrenched himself on the toilet. Using their service weapons, the police asked him to get out.

However, the police did not find a knife when searching the man and the business. The 42-year-old explained that he had previously got into the face in the parking lot of the business with an unknown man who had sprayed irritant gas in the face.
