Attempted robbery in Gießen: man with a knife - perpetrator in custody!

In a shocking incident on Friedrichstrasse near the pedestrian bridge over the tracks, an attempted robbery occurred on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. Two men, aged 18 and 36, injured a 37-year-old man with a knife while trying to steal his cell phone. The attackers pushed the victim to the ground and hit him before struck with a knife and injured him in the arm and back.

The victim was able to flee into a nearby business, but the attackers did not give up and continued their attack until he escaped into a pub. Despite immediate searches, the perpetrators initially remained fleeting. Both the criminal police and the Gießen public prosecutor quickly initiated investigations that led to the identification of the attackers. On the same day, one of the suspects could be arrested, the second perpetrator followed the next day. Both, Algerian citizens, were put into custody, while the background of the brutal assault are still being checked. The criminal police are receiving information on the incident on 0641/7006-6555.
