Traffic chaos on the A4: trailing fire leads to full closure and traffic jams

"Large deployment after a trailer fire on the A4: 03.07.2024, 3:31 pm"

The events on the A4 between the Eisenach-West and Eisenach-Ost junction ensured extensive traffic disabilities and a large-scale deployment of the police, fire brigade, emergency services and disaster protection. A trailer of a saddle train got into full fire, which led to a temporary full closure of the highway.

The driver of the tractor, a Polish driver, noticed the fire of his trailer due to a tire damage in good time and was able to get to safety unharmed. The tractor also remained undamaged. However, the charge of the trailer, consisting of 25 tons of plastic granules, burned out completely and caused property damage of around 60,000 euros.

During the rescue work, both directional lanes had to be blocked for about an hour, which led to traffic jams and traffic disruptions on the detour routes. The Dresden directional lane was completely closed for an hour and a half before two lanes could be released again. At the current time, the right lane remains closed due to the rescue work.

The exact cause of the fire of the trailer fire remains unclear for the time being and will be the subject of further investigations. Despite the damage to the vehicle and cargo, the driver's quick action was prevented. The on -site emergency services provided quick and professional help in order to control the situation and make the motorway accessible as soon as possible.
