Edeka Hasse in Emden: New market opens with sustainability concept

Emden -The opening of the new Edeka market Hasse in Wykhoffweg in Borssum is imminent. After a construction period of one and a half years in which there were numerous challenges, the market will open for customers on Thursday, September 12th, at 7 a.m. Always with an eye on the needs of the community, this market will in future offer a new contact point for food and everyday errands.

an important new beginning for the community

With the reopening of the Edeka market, not only retail in Emden is supported, but also promoted the local economy. The new building comprises 760 square meters more space than the previous supermarket. This ensures an extended range and better shops for the residents of Borssum and the surrounding area. In addition, a bakery from Buchholz is also integrated in the new market, where customers can enjoy rolls and cakes in the coming time.

challenges during the construction period

The construction work on the Neuer Markt was shaped by several delays. Above all, the adverse weather conditions and the special soil conditions in Emden presented the builders with great difficulty. "We practically didn't get out of the ground," commented Edeka project coordinator Phillip Aseln regarding the problems when setting the founding piles.

Citizen -friendly concept with integrated sustainability

It should be emphasized that attention was paid to sustainability when building the new market. A photovoltaic system on the roof should contribute to the energy supply, even if the current produced is not sufficient to supply the market completely self-sufficient. In addition, the market is heated by the waste heat of the refrigeration system plus heat pump. The integration of so -called "Easy Shopper" shopping cart, which are equipped with tablets, enables customers to make a quick and modern shopping experience.

opening times and offers

The new Edeka Markt will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and, in addition to the usual foods, also offers a lottery station and a post office that integrates into the market. Despite the modernized offers, Edeka continues to do without Self-Scan cash registers to enable customers to have a traditional shopping experience.

parking for customers

With regard to the parking facilities, 101 parking spaces will be available in the future. These share the EDEKA market with the newly opened Borssum outdoor pool, which is a common use of the urban infrastructure.

While the exact costs of the EDEKA construction project are not published, the opening of the new market shows how serious it is to bring modern shops to the communities and at the same time perceive social responsibility.
