Autumn Pride in the north: a sign of visibility and diversity

In the north German north, an important event will take place on October 2, which strengthens the local queer community and ensures more visibility. The "Autumn Pride North" is a demonstration that is committed to the rights of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender and intersexuals and at the same time fights against discrimination. The event is organized by the Norder Youth Parliament and the youth center, with Merle Gatena, the youth mayor, playing a key role. "It is high time that we carry out such an action in the north," she says about the pleasant response that the plans have received so far.

a new highlight in the history of north

With an expected number of 300 people, the "Autumn Pride" will lead through the city center, starting at the Norder Tor and further through the pedestrian zone, over the market square and Norddeicherstraße to the youth center. This route not only symbolizes the movement for equality, but also the community cohesion of the Norder citizens. "Everyone is welcome, even if they only go part of the way," adds Vincent Diekmann from the youth center, "It is important that everyone shows that the queer community has a place in the north."

promote cooperation

The organizers emphasize that the "autumn pride" should not only remain a one -time event. It is planned that there will also be similar actions in the future to increase the queer visibility in the north. "We want to create a space in which everyone can feel safe," says Diekmann. In order to actively integrate people into the event, the youth center organized a workshop on September 20, in which participants can shape demonstration signs together. This is done in cooperation with the north art school.

A look into the future

The upcoming "autumn pride" not only illustrates the need to counter discrimination, but also the desire of the community for more open -mindedness. The active commitment of young people for the queer thing is encouraging and could be the beginning of a new tradition in north. "The support of local groups such as the north climate group and the same Café shows that we are not alone," explains Nico Kemena, another organizer of the event. The dynamics and enthusiasm for the "autumn pride" shows that the norder population is willing to continue to work for diversity and tolerance.

diversity celebrate with an evening of the encounters

After the demonstration, an “evening of diversity” will take place in the youth center, which offers space for exchange and encounter. Among other things, highlights will be speeches by the Norder Mayor Florian Eiben and the member of the Bundestag Johann Saathoff. Musically, DJ Nils will loosen up the mood that has already been involved in many CSDs. "We want to create a room in which people can come together to share their experiences and to strengthen our community," says Diekmann.

The "autumn pride north" is more than just a demonstration; It is a sign of hope and change in the community. By offering a platform for visibility and exchange, the organizers promote cohesion and acceptance for everyone in the north. This commitment could not only benefit the queer community, but also have a positive impact on the entire city society.
