new car ferry "Seester 1" ready for North Sea crossing
In the middle of a festive act, the latest member of the fleet of the shipping company "Seestern", the "Seestern 1", was baptized in Emden. From July the car ferry will be traveling with its daily trips between Norddeich and Norderney. The beginning of the first crossings is planned for the earliest early risers, because “Seestern 1” Norddeich is left towards Norderney at 6 a.m.
The baptismal ceremony was ceremoniously celebrated by the shareholders and invited guests under the sovereign direction of managing director Katrin Meyer. It is a significant moment, said Meyer, since the baptism of a ship symbolizes the beginning of a new era and set milestones for the future.
Appreciates the solemn event, the partner Johanna Schmidt took on the role of the godmother and always wished the “Seestern 1” a good trip and enough water under the keel. After the traditional smash of a champagne bottle on the bowl, the ship was blessed by Reverend Anton Meier and is now ready for his maiden voyage on Rauen See.
Following baptism, the guests had the opportunity to explore the deck and the gastroades of the ship. The unique design, which attracted a lot of attention in advance, extends across all areas of the new ferry. The shipping company is determined that the vacation for the passengers will start on board.
The gastronomic offer during the crossing was specifically designed to offer a healthy and sustainable selection. The guests of the baptismal ceremony have already been convinced by the balanced dishes that were served in reusable alarm glasses. The wide range of dishes, from Nordic specialties such as Stremellachs and Matjessalat to international delicacies such as couscous salad or teriyaki beef salad, met with a positive resonance among guests. Even the legendary milk rice of the milk bar found its place on board, which not only delighted the little visitors to the christening eggs.
Those responsible for the shipping company also plan their own baptismal ceremony for the “Seestern 1” on Norderney in the near future. The "Seester 1" car ferry promises to make the North Sea crossing an unforgettable experience and to sound a new era in ferry traffic.
