Stat force receives EU funding for hydrogen reversal in Emden!
Emden, Deutschland - The Norwegian energy group Statkraft has made a significant progress in Emden: With a possible EU funding of over 100 million euros, the company plans to build a large electrolyser and a heat pump. The project, which is intended to feed the production of hydrogen into the approved hydrogen kernel network, receives support from the EU innovation fund in order to promote innovative technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Stat force intends to build a 200 MW electrolysis system and a 50 MW heat pump system. In the first step, up to 20,000 tons of renewable hydrogen are to be provided for the decarbonization of industry. In the long term, up to 50,000 MWh of district heating is to be added annually. "In Emden we open the first chapter of our ambitious hydrogen plans in Germany," said Helge-Jürgen Beil, Vice President Hydrogen at Statkrogen in Germany. In addition, Statkraft plans to develop a 10 MW electrolysis for the supply of hydrogen filling stations in the region. An investment decision for this pilot plant is expected this year.
