Verdi calls for all -day warning strikes in the port of Hamburg
The port workers in Hamburg are located in the middle of all -day warning strikes, which were organized by the Verdi union. These strikes are a preparation for impending collective bargaining and have the goal of increasing the pressure on employers.
The current strike started as planned in the early shift at 6:30 a.m. and is to last on Tuesday and Wednesday in all three layers. This strike is followed by similar jobs at the beginning of June when the port workers made their demands for higher wages.
The Verdi union emphasizes that the Central Association of German Seebugbetriebe has not yet submitted an acceptable offer in the negotiations. Among other things, the employee representatives call for a three -neuroic increase in hourly wages from June 1, 2024.
The negotiator of Verdi, Maren Ulbrich, emphasizes that employers still have to make clear concessions, especially in the wage increases offered. The parties left the negotiations far apart, which makes the strike appear as a necessary means to enforce the employee interests.
These strikes are part of a wider movement that the ports in Bremen, Bremerhaven, Brake and Emden has already reached. The fourth round of collective bargaining is planned for this Thursday and Friday in Bremen, where the further negotiations are to take place.
