Volunteering in the Emsland: New initiative to appreciate committed citizens!

The district of Emsland sets a joint sign of appreciation for volunteers as part of the "Excellent! Volunteering" campaign. From now on, a particularly outstanding volunteering will be presented on the 5th of one month. This initiative aims to do and appreciate the diversity and the valuable work of volunteers more visible. The campaign is made by the social department Dr. Sigrid Kraujuttis responsible.

The award is aimed at individuals, groups, clubs, associations and initiatives of all ages. Suggestions for the award can be submitted via an online form on the website www.ehrenamt-emsland.de . In order to be taken into account for the award, volunteering in the Emsland must take place or the proposed person must live there. In addition, it must be unpaid volunteering and based on freedom-democratic basic values.

The proposals are selected to the month. Suggestions that are not taken into account remain in the selection pool and can be considered again when the decision is made. The "excellent! Volunteering" is announced on the 5th of a month. The volunteer service also offers the possibility that excellent actors can report on their work on Instagram and Facebook.

The Lower Saxony volunteer card, which has been introduced by the state of Lower Saxony since 2007, recognizes the voluntary commitment and offers discounts in public institutions as well as various providers in Lower Saxony and Bremen. The map is valid nationwide and can be used in areas such as sports, culture and leisure. The period of validity is three years, an extension is possible under certain conditions.

For the preservation of the volunteer card, applicants must demonstrate a voluntary common good -oriented activity of at least 5 hours a week or 250 hours a year that has existed for at least two years. In addition, the commitment must take place in Lower Saxony or Bremen or the applicant has to live there. The next ceremony for new owners of the volunteer card will take place on November 5, 2024 in Hagen’s Hotel in Haren.

An application to award the volunteer card is digitally or in writing; However, digital application requires registration of the association or the organization.
