Emsland invests in digital education: new learning rooms for schools!

The district of Emsland positions itself as a pioneer in digital education in order to promote the transformation of the educational landscape. The aim is to ensure sequences of resources for educational institutions in the region. As part of the funding program "Learning Rooms of the Future", the Medienzentrum Emsland will be adapted to current and future needs.

An important part of this initiative are new green screen studios, which are set up in both schools and day care centers. These studios enable creative projects with virtual backgrounds and special effects, which significantly enriches media education. A poster campaign also increases the visibility of the new offers in schools and daycare centers.

resources and support for education

The Medienzentrum Emsland has locations in Lingen (EMS), Meppen and Papenburg and offers extensive services. This includes media education, the rental of media and devices as well as further training. Advice on the use of digital media and the support in media concepts are also important aspects of the work of the center. In order to ensure the implementation of these projects, the state of Lower Saxony, as a media educational consultant, has resorted to the locations.

The heads of the locations make a decisive contribution to this success: Marion Bohse leads the location Papenburg, Denice Roming the Lingen location Lingen location. These are supported by employees of the district administration to promote the integration of new media into everyday education.

In addition, it is emphasized that education, space and digitality are in a close interrelation. Digitization results in profound social changes and increasingly influences analog learning formats. In German schools, however, deficits in the integration of digital media can be seen, despite the improved technical equipment by the digital pact.

A central aspect that can be found from research into similar incidents is the need to adapt the physical school architecture to the “culture of digitality”. The existing school buildings often reflect the construction methods of the early 20th century, which restricts self -determined learning. Hybrid learning rooms and blended learning are considered building blocks for the school of the 21st century, which promote the connection between digital media and the needs of the learners.

The schools have to prepare for the fact that future professions do not yet exist, which requires adaptation of the learning methods and interior design. Innovative concepts that enable a fulfilling learning experience are of crucial importance for the educational landscape, as is explained in an article by Education.
