Cleaning forces in Osnabrück: demand for fair wages is growing!
in Osnabrück, the building cleaners face significant changes in relation to their wages. The IG Bau, the union for this industry, demands an increase in hourly wages for three euros. This could increase the minimum wage for cleaning staff to 16.50 euros per hour. Friedrich Pfohl, the chairman of the IG Bau Bau Osnabrück-Emsland-Grafschaft Bentheim, emphasizes that this should be the fair wages for the demanding work of cleaning staff.
This means a monthly gross salary of around 2790 euros for a building cleaner who works full -time, which admittedly sounds a lot. However, many are part -time and are usually used early in the morning or late at night. Pfohl describes the work as a "bone job", especially if you consider tasks such as cleaning school toilets. Here you have to be aware of the hard reality that the employees often find little attention in society, but have to pay a lot.
urgent catching up to do with payment
Pfohl is critical of the previous remuneration of the cleaning staff. "The times when a building cleaner puts herself at the end of the wage chain are over," he says. The approximately 4830 employees in Osnabrück would not have received a single cent of inflation compensation for a long time. This leads to an enormous need to catch up in payment, and the IG Bau now demands that this will be addressed immediately.
In addition, trainees in the building cleaning trade should also benefit from the new wage claims. For the first year of training, IG Bau is aiming for an increase of 150 euros per month, so that the remuneration could be 1050 euros from the start of the training. In the final third year of training, the trainees could even earn 1500 euros per month, which represents an increase of 300 euros compared to the current conditions.
The negotiations between the IG Bau and the Federal Guild Association of the building cleaner trade are to go into the next round in the second week of September. The decision here could have far -reaching consequences for the entire industry and a sign of how important the work of cleaning staff is for society is. After all, this work is not only the fulfillment of services, but also a fundamental pillar of everyday life in office, schools and care facilities.
This advance shows an increasing recognition of the importance of cleaning staff and their work. The implementation of the wage increases could not only improve the financial situation of the employees, but also raise public awareness of the challenges and necessities of building cleaning.
