With confidence: German sprinter start strongly into the Paralympics
At the Paralympic Games in Paris, the German Sprinter show a strong self -confidence in the discipline of the 100 meters. An important moment had already occurred with the qualification of defending champion Felix Streng and Johannes Floors in the T64 rating class. The two athletes reached the final runs as third and fourth, which significantly increases their chances of medals. At the same time, after experiencing some disappointments in the long jump competition, Leon Schäfer was able to look optimistically into the finals of the 100 meters. In his classification T63 he won in his lead, which brings him into an even stronger position.
The story of Leon Schäfer is particularly impressive. The 27-year-old, who had to amputate the right lower leg and knee in 2010 due to cancer, has fought a remarkable return to competitive sports. With clear words he confirms: «I haven't pulled through quite yet. I know I can do more and I'll definitely get the thing ». This statement shows his unshakable will and the determination to continue fighting after setbacks.
The ambitions of the top athletes
Felix Streng, the 29-year-old defending champion, unchanged the goal of defending his Olympic title. After a short gap of just a tenth of the Italian sprinter Maxcel Manu, strictly explains: «My goal is absolutely to defend the title. I am here for that ». Already three years ago in Tokyo he won gold over the 100 meters, which arouses increased expectations of his performance.
Johannes Floors, another key player in the team, also brings an impressive story. He was born with a malformation of both legs and decided at the age of 16 to have his legs amputated in order to take part in competitions. Floors is optimistic about the competitive situation: «The cards are re -mixed. We have a field in which six or seven people can run on the first ranks and I definitely want to leave other double amputated ones behind me ». This statement underlines the competitive spirit and the dynamics that can be felt in these competitions.
The upcoming final promises a lot of tension. The German athletes compete with a mix of experience, determination and the will to improve. The Paralympic Games are not only a stage for impressive sporting performances, but also a platform to reduce barriers and inspire the audience.
