Tourist development concept for Elfringhauser Switzerland: Citizens have the floor!

The picturesque region of the Ennepe-Ruhr district attracts visitors from near and far, but at the same time the interests of agriculture and tourism are often conflict. In order to address these challenges, local authorities and organizations work together on an innovative approach to sustainable tourism.

The new tourist development concept, in which the Economics Association of Ennepe-Ruhr, the Ruhr regional association as well as the cities of Hattingen and Velbert are involved, aims to take into account the needs of locals and visitors alike. An online survey offers citizens the opportunity to contribute their wishes, ideas and concerns and thus actively participate in the design process.

The focus is not only on the economic benefits of tourism for the region, but also on the preservation of the natural beauty of the Elfringhauser Switzerland and the reduction of usage conflicts. Together, solutions are searched for long-term and sustainable development of tourism in the Ennepe-Ruhr district.

The survey runs until the end of the month and offers everyone interested the opportunity to actively participate in the future of tourism in the region.
