Explosion and fall in the building: 14 injured in fire brigade exercise in Herdecke
When demolishing the Cuno tower on the old power plant site of the Mark-E in Herdecke, there was an explosion that offered a dramatic scenario for the annual alarm exercise of the volunteer fire brigade. The fire brigade was alerted at 3:16 p.m. when twelve employees were reported missing. The explosion converted the terrain into a rubble field and injured a total of 14 people.
on site, operations manager Jan Möller took over the coordination and formed several sections of operations to efficiently cope with the situation. The fire brigade was supported by the Technical Aid Agency of Wetter. A fire broke out in an adjacent building that had to be deleted under heavy breathing protection. Visibility was severely restricted, which made the rescue work of the injured people more difficult among the ruins. Thanks to the fire brigade goes to Mark-E AG, which provided the site for the exercise.
