Successful conclusion: Practice class Dorfen starts in the new future

Eight students from the practice class were recently awarded in the Dorfen middle school who acquired their "theoretical -touched finish". At a small discharge ceremony, which was designed in the sense of the graduates, not only the certificates, but also the pride of the students were felt. In the past five years, this training facility has established itself as an important support for students who may otherwise have difficulties on the job market.

A central concept of practical class is the individual adjustment of the curriculum. Class teacher Tobias Zöllner traces the path of the students, who is less theoretically shaped. Instead, practical experiences are in the foreground. Many of the graduates have completed several internships that made it possible for them to acquire valuable skills and show their suitability in the professional world. For example, Fatemeh Ghazizada has already received an apprenticeship contract as a dental assistant through her commitment.

Community goal and social skills

The graduates unite the goal of actively and successfully participating in life despite the original challenges in everyday school life. In class and during various projects, such as the construction of raised beds in the Marienstift, not only the technical knowledge is promoted, but also social skills are further developed. Understanding for teamwork and community commitment plays an important role here.

In the coming school year there will be eight places in the practice class at the Dorfen middle school. Social pedagogue Hartwich hopes that this model will be offered in other schools in Bavaria. There are only 29 schools in Upper Bavaria that have a comparable offer, which emphasizes the importance of the practice class in Dorfen.

Despite all the successes, the challenges are still present. The colleagues in the practice class emphasize the importance of achievements that motivate the students. "Those who are praised learn that they are good," says Hartwich and emphasizes that there are often additional hurdles such as language barriers or family problems. The practical class shows how, through targeted support and practical experience, the transition to the professional world can be successfully designed for many students. The approach of this school could serve as a model for further educational institutions and make an important contribution to equal opportunities in the education system.
