Erfurt in July: Exciting GDR exhibition and sugar bag campaign for children

Erfurt. The holiday season not only brings relaxation, but also numerous exciting offers for young and old. Especially the cultural events and social actions in the city are in focus to inspire families and children.

The GDR exhibition at Salinenstraße 150 in Erfurt is an impressive experience for all ages. With more than 15,000 original exhibits, this interactive exhibition on over 600 square meters offers a unique insight into the everyday life of the German Democratic Republic. Visitors are invited to touch the exhibited pieces, photograph and actively participate in the action. The exhibition is open from Wednesday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the last admission at 5 p.m.

Another cultural highlight is the leadership in the WIAD storage gallery, which the artist Barbara Lüdde offered on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 6 p.m. The exhibition "Anica Seidel & Barbara Lüdde. Two of Me" shows filigree ink drawings that immerse the viewers into the fascinating and often complex worlds of subculture and identity. The works address clothing, tattoos and other identity features and give visitors the opportunity to decipher deeper social codes. The exhibition is open until August 4th.

In the Anger 1 shopping center, a special campaign for school beginners starts on July 22nd. The first 200 preschool children can pick up an empty sugar bag and fill them with small surprises from various shops in the center. The campaign lasts until July 27th and offers the little ones the opportunity to fill their bags with sweets, pens and other useful things.

In a cooperation with the Stadtwerke Bäderen, a free swimming course for the children of the members is offered for the first time.
