Esslingen turns the game: exciting victory against Balingen 2

In an exciting meeting in the Oberliga, TSG Balingen 2 had to accept a defeat again, while the hosts, FC Esslingen, celebrated their first victory of the season. The game was characterized by dynamic change in the course of the game and an attentive defensive of both teams. The Balinger, who were previously without points, could hardly assert themselves in the first 45 minutes after a bumpy start.

The first few minutes clearly belonged to FC Esslingen. Coach Philipp Wolf of the TSG explained that his team was inferior in many aspects in the first half. "The only positive thing was in the end that it was 0-0," he said. Despite the superiority of the hosts, the goal finishes remained ineffective. The second half started with a shock for Balingen: In the 47th minute, Lukas Glaser for Esslingen scored the 1-0 lead.

The equalization and a turning point

However, the Balinger could not be discouraged. In the 59th minute Christos Thomaidis managed to equalize. In this phase, the TSG looked more dynamic and greedy after the ball. Shortly afterwards, in the 67th minute, the second team from Balingen turned the game with a goal from Bastian Maier after a corner kick. Wolf noticed that his team had turned the game upside down and continued to play well.

But the shock of an injury-related change in the 72nd minute burdened the Balingen defensive. The initial order was lost, which exploited Esslingen. In the 78th minute, Anastasios Ketsemenidis equalized for Esslingen and thus questioned the previous course of the game.

Tension up to the last minute

The game took a dramatic turn in the last minute of the game. Danis Dipa brought Esslingen to the winning road with a goal in the 90th minute. Wolf stated that the Balinger would have been able to divide the points, especially in the second half. The stoppage time offered thrill again when the TSG tried to force the draw, but instead it was again countered by Esslingen, which led to the final 4: 2

Ultimately, Wolf described the performance of FC Esslingen as deserved as they had made the clevered decisions in the decisive moments. This underlines the importance of experience and strategy in football, where the outcome is often influenced by small mistakes. While Balingen is still looking for his first point, Esslingen stays on the Siegesstraße and can look back on a strong team performance.
