Euskirchen is planning a new building: Rotation institution for correctional facilities!

Euskirchen, Deutschland - The Erlenhof correctional facility in Euskirchen could soon be expanded to include a new rotation institution. On request, the NRW Ministry of Justice confirmed that the construction of a facility with 640 detention places on the associated site was considered. A feasibility study has already shown that such a new building is fundamentally possible. While the plans are still at an early stage, there is currently no specific information about the investment volume or an completion date.

Nationwide, two new rotary institutions are planned to cope with the renovation backlog in existing detention centers. Inmates are temporarily moved to the new facilities, while their previous prisons are renovated. The construction costs for one of these institutions amount to at least 770 million euros. Channel construction work has already been carried out around the Erlenhof, but the city of Euskirchen has so far not been able to comment on the new building plans.
