Social media in the town hall: The district of Euskirchen effectively informs!
More and more administrations in the Euskirchen district are relying on social media to communicate directly with the citizens. The district of Euskirchen itself has over 11,000 followers on Instagram, while cities such as Zülpich and Mechernich successfully use Instagram and YouTube for information and recruitment. While the comment function was deactivated in Mechernich to ensure respectful handling, Euskirchen even plans a tictok presence to address younger generations.
Zülpich leads his own Instagram and YouTube channel to share festivities and city news. Bad Münstereifel also uses social media to spread news and has had positive experiences in terms of reach and citizens' interaction. In contrast, the municipality of Dahlem does not use social networks, instead trusting conventional means of communication.
In a surprising campaign, trainees from the district administration temporarily took over the social media channels to give authentic insights into their everyday work. This development shows that social media now represent an indispensable means of communication for public administration in order to address and inform citizens and potential employees, such as www.ksta.de reported.
