Deadly wild boar virus threatens dogs in NRW-now leash!
Engelskirchen, Deutschland - In North Rhine-Westphalia, the fatal Aujeszky virus spreads among dogs! The virus was recently found in a dead wild boar freshling in Engelskirchen, and every year there are eight to ten cases in the Euskirchen district. Hunting dogs are particularly at risk because the transmission is made by contact with the nasal secretion of the infected wild boar. Therefore, the highest caution is required!
Dog owners in North Rhine -Westphalia are urgently advised to lease their animals on the forest walk and to stay on the paths. The symptoms of an infection that can occur after four to seven days are alarming: drowsiness, coordination problems and even loss of appetite are signs that a dog could be infected. Philipp Ising vom Oberbergische Kreis warns that an infection usually has fatal consequences. The call to vigilance applies not only to hunters, but to all dog owners who pull it into the countryside with their four -legged friends! More on this can be found on www.ruhr24.de .
